The following is an overview of the 2024 Bristol Bay commercial salmon season. All data are preliminary. The 2024 inshore Bristol Bay sockeye salmon run of 51.6 million fish was the 10th largest inshore run since 2004 and was 7% above the 48.2 million average run for the latest 20-year period.

Bristol Bay’s Commercial Fishermen express their appreciation to Secretary of Interior Deb Haaland, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), and the Biden Administration for their decisive action to protect 28 million acres of federally managed "D-1" lands in Alaska, including 1.2 million acres in the Bristol Bay region.

ADF&G's cumulative numbers through August 20 show a total run of 51.5 Million fish including a harvest of 31.5 million and an escapement of 19.9 million sockeye.

The UW-FRI Preliminary (August) Preseason Forecast for 2025 Bristol Bay sockeye salmon run size is 49.6 million sockeye salmon.

Alaska Legislature passed House Bill 273 on May 15, 2024. The bill made amendments to the
