The BBRSDA Board voted on October 10th to appoint Matt DeWitte to the board of directors in recently vacated seat E for the reminder of that seat’s term.

We are asking the federal delegation to take some actions to support US fishermen, and the more fishermen constituents they hear from (you!) the stronger our voice. Letter and talking points to send your delegation.

The Alaska Department of Fish & Game has released its annual season summary for Bristol Bay.

serving on the BBRSDA board in 2018, served as President from 2021-2022

The Alaska Marine Safety and Education Association (AMSEA) is working on a project to improve commercial fishing safety and is seeking focus group participants

Several fishermen have recently reported receiving letters and an invoice from the USDA, requesting repayment of the funds that they received as part of the Seafood Trade Relief Program (STRP) back in 2020.

The setnet fleet will vote on joining BBRSDA this fall. Ballots will be sent by mail to each S04T setnet permit holder twice in September (9/5 and 9/18) with the post mark date to return them by October 9th.

FRI’s initial prediction for 2024 is a run of 38.9 million sockeye, with a harvest of 26.4 million sockeye. This forecasted run would be 32% below the 2013-2022 (10-year average).
