  • High-resolution preferred (photo size greater than 800kb)

  • Submit original photos (photos that are screenshotted or harvested from social media before submission are compressed in size and quality)

  • Photo taken from smartphones should be emailed, not texted (texting compresses size and quality)

  • Photos should be in focus

  • Photos of whole fish are preferred in ice or in RSW

  • Photos must demonstrate responsible fish handling.

  • No fish photos with bloody fish or bruised flesh.

  • No photos of lying on or standing on fish. (Yes, that includes deck loads and round hauls.)

  • No selfies (We know you’re feeling yourself, but our consumers might not.)

Helpful Hints:

  • The photo contest is open to both professional and amateur photographers.

  • You may adjust and edit your images to optimize the photograph. Aspects such as cropping, brightness, contrast, and color balance can all be adjusted. Color and B+W images may be submitted, however images may not have any watermarks or captions on them.

  • The more the merrier! There is no limit to the number of photos each person can submit!

  • The original images should be high enough resolution to be printed. (See Criteria)

  • Images taken on any camera or smart phone will be accepted, however if the image is not a reasonable quality, we may not be able to print them in future publications.

  • Photographs and videos submitted to the BBRSDA may be shown around the world representing Bristol Bay’s high quality, sustainable and delicious sockeye salmon and the story of how these fish come to market. We are looking for content that tells the story of Bristol Bay’s amazing fishery by depicting sustainable and abundant harvests, quality fishing practices, and delicious preparation of fish.
