The 2026 Photo Contest is open!

Photographs and videos submitted to the BBRSDA may be shown around the world representing Bristol Bay’s high quality, sustainable and delicious sockeye salmon and the story of how these fish come to market.

We are looking for content that tells the story of Bristol Bay’s amazing fishery by depicting sustainable and abundant harvests, quality fishing practices, and delicious preparation of fish.

DEADLINE OCTOBER 1st, 2026

The overall winning photo gets $500
First place photo in each category wins $250
Second through fifth place in each category wins $100

2026 Categories:

  • Sockeye Salmon- Fresh beautiful fish on deck or your favorite salmon recipe on the plate

  • Action- The Bristol Bay fishery is non-stop let’s see that fish-picking, boat-driving, net-setting ACTION!

  • Community- Let’s see your crew, your fish kiddos, your elders, your traditions.

  • People- Fish people!

  • Landscape & Nature- Show us the wildlife, the landscapes, the waves and the sunsets!

CRITERIA:

Yes! 👍

  • Sockeye Salmon (we know, we know, Kings are huge but we’re all about sockeye here)

  • Fish on ice or in RSW

  • High resolution (500 KB +)

  • Responsible fishing & quality practices

Hot Tips 🔥

  • Think about negative space in your photos, include some of that endless sky or include space around the subject of your photo.

  • Do you have Bristol Bay Sockeye Salmon merch? Lets see it!


No 👎

  • Bloody or bruised fish

  • Dirty fish/boats

  • Stepping on or laying on fish

  • Deckloads or round hauls

  • King Salmon (we know they are so cool, but it’s all about SOCKEYE here)

  • Low resolution – no less than 500KB (screenshots & emailed photos are sometimes small)
