USCG exemption notice regarding EPIRBS and Personal Locator Beacons (PLBs)

This USCG circular promulgates the recommendations of the International Maritime Organization concerning periodic inspections of immersion suits by ships' crews. Includes a checklist to be used by crews in inspecting their immersion suits, as well as guidelines for periodic testing of suit seams and closures.

This USCG notice exempts vessels operating in the Bristol Bay commercial fishing fleets between June 1st and August 31st of each year, from certain requirements having to do with survival craft. NOTE: A copy of this exemption letter must be carried on the vessel at all times and made available to Coast Guard boarding officers and dockside examiners.
